This quote, from the American author and poet Robert Browning, is a funny way of saying that asking is a piece of cake, but then there's the hard part getting the asking accepted. If there's a person that you want to ask out, you have to ask them out in a way so that they'll say yes.

Once an answer is given, however, there's still the hard part. Getting them to say yes in the first place can be so much harder than asking them in the first place. In the movie "Inception", when Cobb asks his team members to help him find Mal in his dream, he says: "Asking is easy. Then there's everything that comes after."
